Gemma O'Brien, hand lettering expert, has been hosting courses at Workshop, and seeing as though my writing is a mix of primary school cursive and eccentric architect, it could probably benefit from some help!

If you can't make it to a class, Gemma put together a brilliant hand letting DIY for a pair & a spare, which is here.

Everything about this picture is amazing. Flamingos, astro turf and an impeccable airstream trailer. That's all.

Aesop Neighbourhoods

Aesop, those purveyors of amazing smelling hand wash, have put together 11 neighbourhood maps for various places around the world.

I've saved the San Francisco guide in my ever-expanding 'places to visit on holidays' file.

Do People Kiss in the Street?

A friend I worked with had moved from France to Australia. Her partner came to Australia first for a few months to test the waters.

When he had reported back that he thought it would be a good move, my friend asked her partner these three questions, in order:

- Do people kiss in the street?

- Is there good wine?
- Is there good cheese?

When I asked her what she had meant by that first question, she explained that it was important to her that they live somewhere where people can hold hands and be affectionate and openly romantic and happy in public.

Isn't this such an important thing to consider, but definitely something that people take for granted, I know I do.

I especially like that the second and third question were about wine and cheese, something equally as important!

14 years later and they're still living here.

Day One

I read somewhere that you should start referring to yourself as whatever it is you want to be.

If you want to be an artist, start saying that you are an artist and if you want to make writing a career, start calling yourself a writer.

I want to be able to document and record thoughts and ideas. I want to create a place where I will be able to conveniently store things that have inspired me, as well as use it as a way to remind myself of what I've done and what I want to do.
